Field Site Supervisor


We are seeking a talented, motivated individual who will work within our established Site Services team as a Field Site Supervisor. This role requires an experienced Mechanical Engineer with rotating machines and hydro-power generator experience to work at our various sites in the UK and overseas. 

This is a full-time role with the flexibility of travel nationally and internationally at relatively short notice. We are looking for a professional, presentable, and courteous individual who can communicate at all levels and liaise with the UK based team during project work.

Key Responsibilities & Accountability

  • Overall safety leadership of the team and activities undertaken
  • Production or Risk Assessments and Method Statements to correctly manage any potential risks and communicate the scope f work to team members and client
  • Ensure RAMS briefed to all relevant persons (QE & Client)
  • Work with the Project Manager to produce a realistic Project Plan capturing resource requirements and predicted durations
  • Monitor progress against Project Plan and develop mitigations for any actual, or likely, slippage
  • Allocate tasks to the site team in line with the Plan and brief daily/weekly progress targets.
  • Communicate changes in resource requirements in a timely manner to ensure efficient use of site staff
  • Manage working hours & shift patterns by agreement with client to ensure projects run to planned durations
  • Work with the Project Manager and responsible Engineer to ensure all check sheets and quality record forms required are collated and distributed before mobilisation to site
  • Ensure check sheets / records completed and any requiring further review are clearly marked as such and returned to Rugby on a daily basis.
  • Lead day to day communication with client representatives on site
  • Communicate to the responsible Engineer any features of the machine in respect of design or deterioration that might give cause for reliability concern or which might need early review to prevent delays
  • Ensure time sheets for the site team submitted by midday every Monday. Submission to be done on the previous Fri PM if staff known not to be available Monday AM (because of travel plans etc.)
  • Ensure daily logs completed after completion of the shift and sent back to Rugby each evening
  • Compile final report in the correct format in a timely manner
  • Manage client’s positive perception of QE quality standards for both site work and activity undertaken in Rugby or other business units.

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Experienced fitter or winder
  • Time served with college level technical qualification
  • Extensive demonstrable experience on site project with rotating electrical machines (HV AC & DC motors and Generators)
  • Extensive experience in site overhaul of vertical hydro-powered generators (5-50 MW)
  • A forward thinker, open minded, safety conscious individual who is a clear and assertive communicator, efficient in planning and executing work
  • To be qualified to HNC level
  • Demonstrable experience completing risk assessments, electrical safety awareness, inspection, and measuring
  • Full driving license and passport essential
  • EU passport holder desirable
