We are consistently conscious of the potential impact of our processes and practices on the communities we operate in and the planet as a whole, and enforce strict measures and procedures to support sustainability and mitigate damage.
We support and encourage the sustainable use of natural resources through product and process design, working practices, material selection and waste management.
We operate a responsible procurement policy, with the environmental impact and performance of the suppliers of products and services a key criterion in their selection and retention. Where possible, we provide customers with energy efficient advice and solutions, assisting in the reduction of their environmental impact and carbon footprint both in the provision and ongoing operation of that which we provide.
We adhere to the ethics of ISO 14001:2015, not only meeting our legal obligation but where possible, identifying ways of improving our environmental performance and raising standards both in our own facilities and the sites where we operate. We work proactively to ensure our facilities and processes comply with the highest standards in carbon reduction, waste minimisation and pollution prevention.
All Quartzelec employees are aware of our aims and work in accordance with our high standards of environmental protection and sustainability.
Administered by Ofgem, Quartzelec have taken a decision to ensure that 100% of electricity used in the UK will be from a Renewable Energy Source which meets the stringent quality criteria of the GHG (greenhouse gas) Protocol (2015) for reporting zero carbon emissions. Quartzelec is proud to therefore state that our electricity supply is certified zero carbon emission.
Environmentalists and scientists have long suspected of the perils of plastics to humans and our bio-diverse ecosystem, but it’s only been in recent years that awareness and action has become a key topic.
Plastic has now been found to be poisoning our bodies and oceans. The world’s population has been on a steep learning curve to understand both the environmental damage plastics cause as a source of accumulated, non-biodegradable rubbish as well as the impact of the chemicals used in plastics, such as BPA (bisphenol-A) and phthalates.
At Quartzelec, we believe that reducing global dependence on plastics is the way to safeguard both our health and that of our oceans! And wanting to proactively play our part, we have launched ‘Project Turtle’ as the focal point of our efforts.
We are committed to sustainable procurement, believing we can all contribute to minimising future impact to the environment through the immediate reduction of single-use plastic. We are therefore endeavouring to minimise or remove where possible the use of all plastics in our operational processes. We also seek to find appropriate substitutes, wherever possible in other areas of the business, encouraging the recycling of more plastics.
